Now this is a bit of a strange one to me. In the current climate of austerity and financial crisis the World over, it’s obvious that some people will still have money to burn and Ferrari owners and enthusiasts are no exception. Ferraris are expensive cars after all.
However, even as a Ferrari fan I find this story a little strange, especially given the results of the project. Apparently Eric Clapton, the famous rock-blues guitarist and Ferrari enthusiast has splashed out for a one off Ferrari Special Projects creation based on a Ferrari 458 Italia.
No problem there I suppose but he has reportedly paid $4.75 million for it! Now, for that sort of money I would want something that looked really, really special, not something that looks like a cross between a Ferrari 458 Italia and a McLaren MP4 12C – Ferrari P4/5 anyone?
The brief was reportedly to rebody a Ferrari 458 Italia and emulate his beloved Ferrari 512BBi which he unfortunately crashed. To be honest, if I was that bothered about my 512BBi then I think I would go out and buy another Ferrari 512BBi, not completely wreck the looks of a modern masterpiece such as the Ferrari 458 Italia.
Just my opinion. Anyway, if you want to see a little more of Clapton’s new Ferrari, here is a leaked video of the car which has been dubbed the Ferrari SPC12 EPC (Special Prjoects Car number 12 – Eric Patrick Clapton). By the way, note the number plate on the car in the video.
The car pictured above is the legendary short wheel base (SWB) Ferrari 250 GT California from 1960. It followed on from Ferrari’s first purpose built convertible, the Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet. It was with these first few cars that Ferrari started to become more of a commercial organisation, although the initial drive for these new ventures was to develop revenue in order to fund Ferrari’s passion for racing.

In line with the Ferrari legend that in order to ensure exclusivity you should produce one less product than the market demands, only 499 of these super exclusive H4D-40 cameras will be produced.
The joint venture between Hasselblad and Ferrari has produced what many will consider to be the ultimate camera, in terms of quality, innovation and of course state of the art design and it will appeal to photographers and Ferrari fans alike.
The camera comes complete with an 80mm lens which fits into one of the two compartments in the glass box that it comes in. The camera itself fits into the other compartment.
Oh, and as well as there being only 499 of these cameras being produced, there is something else that will ensure its exclusivity. The price. Each one of the 499 Ferrari Hasselblad H4D cameras will cost an eye watering $29,499!
Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay interviewed at the Ferrari factory while sat in a yellow Ferrari 458 Italia Spider. After the interview he is taken for a spin in a Ferrari 458 Italia by Fernando Alonso.
