Ferrari Road Cars - Ferrari F430 |
| |
With the official arrival of the Ferrari F430 at the Paris Motor Show in
September 2004 a new generation of 8 cylinder Ferraris was about to make its mark
in the World. |
| |
Ferrari started to achieve extraordinary technological leaps in the use of
aluminium with the 360 Modena, but with the F430 they took this innovation to a whole
new level with implementations of techniques learned directly from Ferrari's hugely
successful Fomula 1 World Championship winning cars. Two of these had never been seen
on a production car before, the electronic differential also known as E-Diff and the
switch mounted on the steering wheel which allows the driver to manage different
dynamic vehicle settings. |
| |
The other main things that set the F430 apart from its predecessor are its lightweight
4.3 litre V8 engine which is good for 490 bhp, a fantastic carbon-ceramic brake setup,
an F1 style gearbox which can shift gears in as little as 150 milliseconds and the
latest in road hugging aerodynamic design from who else but the style geniuses at
Pininfarina. All this goes together to give the Ferrari F430 a blistering 0-62 mph
sprint time of 4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 196 mph. |
